Missa do Parto at “Liceu” with an invitation to contemplate the light of Jesus in the Nativity Scene

Father Jorge Magalhães invited the community at Escola Secundária Jaime Moniz to enjoy the exuberant light of Christmas decorations, but, above all, to look at the Nativity Scene, contemplate the poverty and fragility of humanity, and receive the true light of Jesus to embark on a new journey.

The priest celebrated Missa do Parto, this morning, at Escola Secundária Jaime Moniz, animated by the Liceu Choir, under the guidance of Pedro Nóia and Susana Vieira.

The priest recalled that the magic word of this time is joy. However, he also recalled that we live in a time of war. Only Jesus can be the light for this dark hour that humanity is experiencing.

Jorge Magalhães also brought to his reflection, in his homily, the recent UNESCO report on education, which defends the need for schools to abandon unbridled competition, and it is even necessary to promote a new social contract that rethinks practices and, above all, our relationship with others. According to UNESCO, the actions of schools must be based on ethical values of democracy and participation. This is the lesson of the Nativity Scene: change practices, be filled with the light of God, have the courage to build a new world.

The president of the executive board, Ana Isabel Freitas, also thanked everyone for their presence and commitment, also citing Saint Augustine when he invites us to listen to our inner voice. It is essential that everyone has peace within themselves to be able to help others, serve the school, defended the president.

With the joy of Christmas carols and the Virgin in Birth, the educational community experienced moments of healthy fraternization. After the Mass, a gathering was held that brought together active and retired teachers.
