Portrait photography exhibition
February 8 - February 29
During the month of February, Largo do Museu at Escola Secundária Jaime Moniz hosts an exhibition dedicated to Portrait Photography. This consists of a collection of 88 works developed in the Multimedia Workshop B discipline of year 12 of the Scientific-Humanistic Visual Arts Course and has the purpose of raising awareness in the School Community about the power of visual communication in the form of photographic records. Among the themes covered are beauty, melancholy, psychological disorders that affect young people, isolation, honor, violence in dating and artificial intelligence. In addition to the conventional approach to portrait photography, students also explored technical solutions with greater creative potential, such as long exposure, multiple flash shots, color enhancement with gel sheets and color bars, projection of shapes and images, “light painting” and composite image. As this is an exhibition in a school context, the pedagogical aspect is fully integrated with a complement of information that allows the viewer to explore the concept of the works, the technical execution of photographic capture, and also the application of composition principles, schemes and profiles of lighting, and color theory. The word combines with the image in this component of the exhibition, with no shortage of “snapshots” from the photo sessions to provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the production.
The organization of this exhibition was the responsibility of the IntervirARTE Project, professor Carlos Rodrigues and students from 12th 20th, with the collaboration of professor Lília Castanha from the school's Núcleo Museológico, teacher Márcia Henriques and year 10 students from classes 20 and 21.
