PANOS Workshop – Trip to Coimbra

The Theater Club “O Moniz – Carlos Varela” from Escola Secundária de Jaime Moniz participated this weekend, November 16th and 17th, in the PANOS Workshop, coordinated by Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, in partnership with the Convento de São Francisco, in Coimbra, where intense work sessions were carried out in just two days.

The year 12 student and member of the Theater Club, Júlia Nóbrega, as well as the coordinating teacher of the project O Moniz – Carlos Varela, Vanda Caixas, were part of the list of participants at national level. For this event, 50 theater schools or associations were selected.

At PANOS, the workshop on the text O Grande Fogo, written by Matilde Campilho, selected by the Club, for the performing and performing arts project for the 2024/2025 academic year of the Theater Club O Moniz – Carlos Varela,encountered the presence and guidance of the writer and was coordinated by the professional actress Rita Cabaço.

Participation in the PANOS Workshop was mandatory, regulated by the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, to maintain registration in the national Festival, aimed at theater groups from schools and associations throughout Portugal. PANOS is an annual festival recognizing youth theater in Portugal that takes place at different times and initiatives, culminating in the selection, by the PANOS jury team, of just six groups, taking into account the criteria highlighted in the Regulation, with the aim of presenting their projects in May 2025.
