ESJM promoted a lecture on Organic Agriculture
The Vocational Course Técnico de Gestão de Ambiente, tipo 6, class CEF6C1 at Escola Secundária Jaime Moniz promoted an awareness-raising action, called “Biological Agriculture and respective agricultural practices”, led by engineer Lénia Jardim and engineer Rosa Gonçalves (Division of Biological Agriculture of the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Rural Development).
The event took place on October 23, in the school auditorium, from 1:15 pm to 2:45 pm, as part of the World Food Day celebrations. The presentation was divided into three parts: Soil fertility management; weed control and plant protection.
The activity was moderated by two students from the course (Alexandra Vieira and Inês Ferreira) and aimed to demonstrate that organic farming is an agricultural production system (plant and animal) that seeks to obtain superior quality food.
Another objective of the lecture was to learn about agricultural techniques/practices in organic production that guarantee sustainability, preserving the soil, the environment and biodiversity.
