Erasmus+ project “A different view of the world”
Between February 26th and March 1st, ESJM hosted several activities that involved students and teachers from several European countries, namely Croatia, Greece, Italy, Poland and Portugal. As the name suggests, the program focused on our way of seeing the world through images, the ability to observe and see beyond the obvious.
For five days, students from participating countries had the opportunity to visit the school and get to know the center of Funchal, go to the 3D Fun Art Museum and the Madeira Photography Museum, attend a workshop on street photography, with part practice in the Old Town. It was five intense days, two of them around the island, but there was still time to dive in our waters and see the dolphins, even if the weather didn't always cooperate.
The week's program also highlights the collaboration of several teachers, such as professor Carlos Rodrigues, Fábia Silva, Horácio Freitas, Marco Ribeiro, Mariana Barros, Odílio Freitas, staff and students from ESJM, who played, sang, prepared a video, guided some of the proposed activities, prepared a typical lunch and welcomed their European counterparts. Equally important was the precious collaboration of the parents of the students involved in the project.
It was, without a doubt, a memorable week for the students, where different cultures and perspectives of the world interconnected with respect, friendship and mutual help. And of course, there was no shortage of capturing countless images of our school and the island, demonstrating the different interpretations and emotions experienced and felt throughout the week.
