Literary Soiree «The Pleasure of Reading»
On February 1, 2024, the II Literary Soiree «The Pleasure of Reading» was held at Escola Secundária Jaime Moniz, hosted by the coordinators of the Reading Club, Alexandra Campos and Paula Barradas.
This celebration of World Reading Aloud Day brought together the educational community to enjoy texts by national and foreign literature authors. Students, teachers, staff and parents read and appreciated poems and narrative texts by various writers. Antero de Quental, Fernando Pessoa, Ana Luísa Amaral, Lídia Jorge, Herberto Helder, Cecília Meireles and Mia Couto were some of the honored authors.
On this day of sharing readings, the song «Mãe», by DAMA, was magnificently performed by the Clube de Guitarra e Cordofones Madeirenses.
At the end of the event, the joy was evident, both among the participants and those who had the opportunity to hear it read and feel the power of the word read and felt aloud.
