Young people can compete for attractive DRJ youth programs
Direção Regional de Juventude (DRJ) has a range of youth programs that are not yet well known, in their entirety, by young people. In this sense, the Regional Director, André Alves, and the Director of Services, Carla Berenguer, carried out, today, at Escola Secundária Jaime Moniz, a conference that was held with around fifty students with the purpose of publicizing these programs.
In a clear, interactive and practical way, both DRJ representatives sought to explain to students the importance of going beyond formal education, in order to gain a diversity of skills that will certainly be useful to them in their future life projects. The Director, a former “Liceu” student, began by sharing his experience with the students of the vocational courses Informação e Animação Turística and Ambiente. In addition to his academic studies and encouraged by his Physical Education teacher at the “Liceu”, he had a dynamic extracurricular experience of collaborating, as a volunteer, in the organization of a triathlon in Madeira, which allowed him, from an early age, to gain other skills. A personal example to awaken young people to other realities, to think about what exists beyond school.
DRJ's Director of Services, Carla Berenguer, listed the various youth programs, all of which require applications through the DRJ's online platform, from the traditional Youth in Training Program to many others, such as Colombo and Mais Mobilidade, as well as the different Programs of Volunteering in Portugal and Europe, and also the always popular summer internship programs, in the Region and in Europe. With great enthusiasm and clear and precise information, Carla Berenguer revealed that all these programs allow candidates to be guaranteed attractive remuneration values, in addition to the accumulated experience of living in a different reality and gaining skills, which will also be listed in the future on their CV.
At the end of the presentation, André Alves recalled that these programs have the added value of providing a new and temporary experience for young people, enriching them culturally, in addition to the Regional Government awarding them monetary compensation acceptable for the candidates' expenses.
This conference was organized by the coordinators of the Vocational Course CEF62 and is part of a partnership established the previous year with the DRJ to publicize the institution's initiatives. This year, a lecture on active employment techniques has already been organized. In addition to the conference on youth programs, another lecture on the theme of youth associations is already scheduled for April 16th.
