Around 150 students participated in the IX Liceu Aquathlon

On December 14th, the XI Liceu Aquathlon took place. The event was organized by Clube Escola O Liceu in partnership with the Physical Education Group of Escola Secundária Jaime Moniz, with the technical support of the Madeira Regional Triathlon Association.

The competition was part of the Aquatlo Jovem Escolar and, as such, was aimed at students from ES Jaime Moniz and other RAM schools, as well as young athletes from RAM Clubs. It consisted of several events, individual and relay, at different levels (Benjamins, Children, Beginners, Youth, Cadets and Juniors).

The activity took place in the Liceu's swimming pool and field and mobilized more than a hundred students, on a sunny morning, full of enthusiasm, competitive spirit and joy of the young students, who participated, in favor of sport and physical activity, as a determining factor for your physical and mental health.

The official Sponsors of the event were: Escola Secundária Jaime Moniz, Direção Regional de Desporto, Câmara Municipal do Funchal, Junta de Freguesia de Santa Maria Maior, Empresa Disco Super Som e FF Produções, GESBA and Empresa de Cervejas da Madeira. 

Present at the awards ceremony were the Vice-President of ES Jaime Moniz, Odílio Freitas, the Director of the Department of Youth and Sports, Duarte Oliveira and the Member of the Parish Council of Santa Maria Maior, Margarida Magalhães. 

In view of the Christmas season, in addition to the medals, T-shirts and two Christmas hampers were handed out through a draw among participants.
