European Week of Sport ends at ESJM with an appeal for healthy lifestyles
The students of Escola Secundária Jaime Moniz experienced an intense and rich week of sporting activities, as part of the European Week of Sports. Teachers, students and guest experts from different sports joined hands and showed, on the ground, how healthy it is to practice physical exercise and how there is a diversity of options in terms of the Physical Education curriculum, in order to guarantee healthy lifestyles .
Throughout this Thursday, the Physical Education teachers, in partnership with CEOL, promoted practical fencing activities, coordinated by the Technical Director of the Fencing Association, Sónia Pereira, and also swimming training, aimed at Physical Education teachers.
This Friday, at the closing of the European Week of Sport, the early morning exercise started with frisbee (Nuno Caçador – DSDE) and karate (Eduardo Luís Henriques Martins, karate coach).
Pelas 9h45 desta sexta feira, no âmbito do “Dia Mundial do Coração”, foi realizada uma ação de sensibilização de socorrismo, dinamizada pela Proteção Civil da Madeira (PCM), em parceria com a Sociedade Portuguesa de Cardiologia, com a presença do enfermeiro Rui Jardim e de dois elementos dos “Bombeiros Sapadores do Funchal”. Nesta ação, que contou com a presença do Conselho Executivo da ESJM, através de Odílio Freitas, os alunos tiveram a oportunidade de aprender os fundamentos do Suporte Básico de Vida (SBV), nomeadamente o correto domínio da cadeia de sobrevivência (ligar 112, reanimar, desfibrilhar e estabilizar) e de praticar as manobras de reanimação, em caso de necessidade.
The European Week of Sports ended with a conference on the theme “Energy and Food Supplements – risks and benefits”, aimed at the educational community, with speakers Rui Almeida, sports medicine doctor, Rodrigo Silva, psychologist, and Miguel Vieira, nutritionist.
