ESJM honours swimming champion
Reconciling studies with sport? "It's not easy, but it's possible!"
“Reconciling sport with studies is not easy. But it’s possible and it’s worth it!” The words belong to the school's young athlete
Luís Galvão Gouveia, who was honored today, as part of the European Week of Sport's celebrations.
Galvão Gouveia stood out as a highly competitive athlete in swimming and completed, in the previous school year, his
secondary school study cycle, proving that studies are compatible with physical sporting activity.
In the company of his mother and coach, Galvão Gouveia received his diploma of merit from the president of Escola Secundária Jaime Moniz, Ana Isabel de Freitas, in the presence of colleagues, friends and family. He received words of encouragement from everyone and was grateful for the right support at the right time, which certainly contributed greatly to the athlete's moments of glory.
The athlete's life now continues in higher education, but his example of an athlete who was also successful in secondary education is relevant for other students who, with courage and sacrifice, can also aim for glory.
